If you're thinking of writing adoptive kid fic, you must read viggorlijah's post, Fandom Primer on International Adoption as a story trope: read it and weep. But the stories based on RL issues could be really good.

I have been making so many recs, I love reccing, I want all appropriate people to see the gorgeous fic! I also have about 800 recs at delicious.com/msilverstar, maybe you'll like some of those...

My main fandom is now and always will be Lotrips. But I've branched out a bit, and rec fic in lots of other fandoms (including ones like SGA that I don't even watch), because good stories are worth sharing.

I would post recs here more often if it wasn't such a huge pain in the ass. This took me hours to fix up and I hate the format. Anyone have a nice delicious to LJ/DW script that runs on Macs? I'll run a command-line program in the Terminal if I have to.

I'm looking for webcomic recommendations for my kidlet (she's now 9, she was 3 when I got sucked into fandom, wow). She has read and liked Get Medieval, Gunnerkrigg Court, and the Order of the Stick so far. She likes silliness, puns and adventures. Also, minimal angst and violence; and young sympathetic characters are always good. Thanks in advance from both of us!

My Remix is woooonderful, thoughtful and sexy and gives me shivers in a very good way. There's a little bit of bondage and stuff, but it's not hard-core at all, really more about character than kinky sex. From What You Do, Because of You, Dom/Orlando, amazing!

We watched Ocean's Eleven the other night. Didn't do much for me, but Andy Garcia was gorgeous.

OMG, I am so lucky that a) my family was away yesterday and I could spend time formatting the stories for posting and b) feelforfaith is a fabulous person to work with. Though my left-hand trackball broke in the middle of the whole thing, and it slowed me down a lot, I'm not so used to mice any more. Anyway, stories are up and mostly excellent, authors are not yet revealed, lots of pairings, come read!

I'm reading a very satisfying Dom/Billy WIP Boston by eff_reality. And I don't just say that because I suggested the name. It's Billy the film history graduate student, and Dom, the mostly-cheerful prostitute, but it plays with the conventions and there are missed connections and it avoids a lot of romantic clichés.

Also, I'm sorry that the feed msil_fanfic_rec (LJ) and msil_delicious (IJ) kinda went crazy, and started sending out tag links, alphabetically. It's del.icio.us, and I don't know how to keep it from happening again :-(

The Colour of Magic / Light Fantastic tv movies are premiering this week -- the event is on Monday March 3rd 2008 at the Curzon Cinema Mayfair. The producers are encouraging anyone who would like to come along and wave and cheer before the first screening [6:30 pm] - costumes are, of couse, most welcome. This is the one where Sean Astin plays Twoflower.

I'm slowly updating my recs on del.icio.us/msilverstar (as a feed: msil_fanfic_rec), mostly LOTRIPS and a few Torchwoods and other fandoms. I'm concentrating on reccing there, so I rarely rec specific chapters of series, but I read one last night that just completely blew me away, in the happy hot smut way. ( very hot cross-dressing Billy/Dom rec )

And birthdays! Hopes for a fabulous year to airgiodslv, bunniewabbit, rosiespark, rosamundeb, and v_angelique!!! *Sings various embarrassing birthday songs*

Two of my favorite Dom/Billy AU series are updating a lot these days! inclineoftrees is a complete revision, from the beginning, of the LOTR University AU, the one where Billy's a Philosophy professor and Dom's a German major. I love the intricate details, the strong supporting cast, the slow pace of story, and the emotional weight of the characters and their mutual attraction. While I'm not very fond of the teacher/student dynamic, this story completely overwhelms my scruples, I just adore it. [Warning for BDSM (very consensual) in chapters to come.]

On a much lighter note, v_angelique and rainbowcobweb have a romp of a series in which Billy owns a bookshop in Paris and Dom's a teacher at a primary school. First there's UST and then there's ST and then there's a whole bunch of happy sex and meeting the family and clubbing in Manchester and a move towards bottomy Billy that I'm finding delightful. A funny thing happened on the way to the librarie -- the best kind of fluffy smut!

I read and skim a whole lot of LOTR RPS. Now that all our fandom newsletters are gone, I've been thinking of doing a simple listing of the new fic that I come across. I'm not going to stop doing my recs, but I'm thinking I could set up a simple listing of everything I see on every journal system I'm on. That would help people find the fabulous new writers and great new fics from old writers. So, ( a poll: )

I've been putting my recs in my del.icio.us/msilverstar account, and wrote a script to extract them. Here are a bunch that I have liked, from February to now. Some of them were posted several years ago, some this month.

FYI, I put the point-of-view character first in the pairing, just my quirk. I'm also relatively liberal in ratings, if the author hasn't rated a fic; I don't think that sex is something to hide from teenagers -- this is the good porn, after all.

It's not all the good fic out there by any means -- some fic I just lose track of, some is in tabs and I keep meaning to get back to it, some fic is so good I have a hard time describing it delicious's limited space. Which is to say: more recs to come.

To get them as I post them, use del.icio.us (where you can click on pairing tags, date, rating, etc.) or subscribe to msil_delicious. I've also been reccing the odd fic in Doctor Who, Torchwood, Heros, HP and even a bandslash fic.
