It's been fun reading this meme, so please, someone, ask me five things about fandom? Anything outside of Lotrips is kinda murky to me, so I tend to like AUs best.

1. The weather here has been cold (for us thinblooded types) but clear and gorgeous.


2. Crossing things off lists! I found my list from Monday and I've done everything on it :-)


3. Being used to my bifocals. I'm mostly nearsighted so I wear glasses all the time. But suddenly last spring, I couldn't read things about ten inches away, even with my glasses on, so I suddenly started bringing things close to my face, looking over my glasses. Hence: bifocals. I chose badly, they are not pretty, but it is nice to see properly.


4. Synonyms for penis at etymoline.com. Please note that the synonym "cock" is attested since 1618, "pillicock" c. 1300 and "dick" only since 1891. I don't remember which Medieval AU I was reading that used "dick", but it sounded really weird to me. And now I sit smugly knowing I was right :-)

Question: what's the difference between Rock, Alternative, Alt-Rock, Alt-Punk and Classic Rock? Where do The Mountain Goats, Patti Smith, and The Decemberists go? For that matter, are the Beatles Pop or Classic Rock or something else? The Proclaimers? Elton John? If there are violins involved, does that make it Pop? Do drums and/or electric guitars signal Rock? I am so lost!

How about Electronica, Trance, Techno, House and Industrial?

What I'd like to do is use bigger categories here, as I don't really care about subtle distinctions, but I don't want to be so wrong as to make people go "huh?" (I do lots of subtle distinctions in Classical and World music categories)

There's no one I'd have sex with without asking questions, it just doesn't work that way in my head. That said, I enjoyed thinking about it very much. ( if I wasn't married... )

Hmmm. I seem to be more heterosexual than I thought. Part of it is that celebrity women have to stay very thin and I like more substance and body to a sex object. Being so thin makes them seem fragile, even when they're not, and that's not sexy to me. I stood next to Miranda Otto for a minute while she was signing autographs -- she's 5'6" in three-inch-heels, very finely boned, and about half my girth. I was afraid I'd knock her over.
