After various calamities, I want to see people! So: local (or visiting) fans are invited to come and be social at my house on Sunday, July 12, 1-6 p.m.

My house is in Berkeley (send email to ms at msilverstar.com if you need directions). There's plenty of parking, and it's one flat mile from BART, or we can pick you up.

Please come, bring your lovely selves and if possible, a little something snackish to share. RSVPs are good, including "maybe", but are not necessary.

I'm sick as a dog, so I have to back out of hosting our semi-traditional Bay Area second Sunday Moot Thing. If anyone else would like to have it at their house, that would be great.

Otherwise maybe later this month, or just hold off until March?

Dom's horror/comedy independent film, I Sell the Dead was at Slamdance, the low-rent adjunct of Sundance. So there are a ton of interviews and photos from Utah today, mostly in dom_media, and I especially direct your attention to the tight leather trousers ones :-) nothing_to_say has been very good to us tonight.

I Sell the Dead is coming to the SF Indiefest in Fabruary, and I read somewhere on their site that they might have some of the actors showing up, but who knows? I will try to keep checking, and update in various places if I find out. Let's see if we can get a fangirl contingent to go and squee together.

Who left a pair of salt and pepper grinders at the last moot? They look rather Alice-in-Wonderland-ish, nifty!

The mystery writer with the Italian policeman who loves his food is Donna Leon. Her Guido Brunetti is middle-aged and a bit conflicted, but his world is not completely corrupt, unlike Michael Dibdon's Aurelio Zen series.

Via hanarobi: video of dolphins blowing bubble rings and playing with them. JUST what I needed to see, cheered me right up.

And I just discovered a fabulous Doctor Who video, Handlebars, by flummery, to the song by Flobots. I don't know about their other songs, but that one really works for me. They're apparently "alternative hip-hop", so some rap with all kinds of music threaded through (they have a violinist!) and great lyrics. (I can't get their Flash-heavy site to load, and the guy on the front page looks like Elijah: I keep doing double-takes). They're also social activists and really quite darling. Must go work on Arwen costume now: kidlet is persistent.

We have a wedding to celebrate: Ruth and Nancy got married last Friday! So this moot we will have a little party to revel in the accomplishment.
